About
Flash is one of the oldest horses on the yard and a true legend. Over the years, he has taught hundreds of people to ride and has enjoyed a varied and impressive career, including riding club competitions, dressage, BHS treks and showjumping. He was also reserve champion at the National Riding for the Disabled Championships. Now in his later years, Flash enjoys a quieter routine, plenty of turnout, and time with his best friend Buster, who lives next door. Despite his age, he still loves to have a playful moment in the field.
Personality Quirks
Flash values his personal space, particularly in his stable. Before coming to us as a youngster, he had to share with a very dominant horse and was often bullied, which meant he struggled to access his food. Because of this, he can be protective over his food and doesn’t like being interrupted while he’s eating. Outside of his stable, he’s a softie, he loves a good groom and absolutely adores a belly scratch. Due to his age and having very few functioning teeth, he also needs careful management around treats and what he eats.
Why we Love them
Flash is loved by everyone who meets him. He has given so much to riders of all ages and abilities and has been an incredible teacher, partner and friend over the years. His kindness, experience and gentle presence make him a very special horse, and it’s a privilege to care for him and ensure he enjoys a comfortable, happy retirement surrounded by friends and familiar faces.
