Millie
Background
Millie came to us as a former broodmare who had been retired from showjumping due to a ligament injury and was out of work. We took her through a long and careful rehabilitation programme to rebuild her strength and bring her back into work. Since then, she has remained active, with only occasional setbacks. During her time with us, we also bred from Millie and she had a foal, Tia, who we sadly lost after just one month due to a rare genetic condition. Millie has since returned to work and continues to thrive.

About
Millie is an incredibly versatile horse with a wide range of skills to teach riders. She is fantastic in the arena and suits both beginners and more advanced riders. With her background in showjumping, she is especially brilliant for learning to jump courses. Now in her later years, she sometimes needs a reminder to take things a little more steadily, but she still thoroughly enjoys her work.
Personality Quirks
Millie can occasionally pull the classic “chestnut mare” faces, but she is kind and loving with people and generally good with other horses, until she decides otherwise. Because of this, she benefits from thoughtful handling and careful management when in close proximity to others. She absolutely loves her food and is always keen for a treat.
Why we Love them
Millie has a wonderfully kind and forgiving nature, making her an incredible teacher. She helps riders learn by giving them the feel of what things should be like, often taking quiet guidance from the instructor to support their progress. She loves to jump and sometimes gets a little overenthusiastic, giving a much bigger jump than needed, which always keeps things fun. Millie is a much-loved part of the yard and a horse who gives so much to everyone she works with.
